Tumbledry sources uneducated men of age 18 to 25 from lesser privileged villages through various channels, including job fairs, banners, local references such as maids, security guards, and more. Their selecting criteria is just simple, a man should know one language (hindi/english/ any regional) and must have completed at least 5th grade. Once selected, trainees undergo a comprehensive 15-day training program, which includes free food and accommodation. During this intensive training, they learn essential skills such as washing, ironing, packaging, and stain removal of over 90 types of stains. Apart from skills, they also learn professional etiquettes and customer handling, making themselves ready to represent any brand. Upon completion, they emerge as skilled professionals, equipped to excel in the laundry and dry cleaning industry. The Spark That Started It AllIn its early days, Tumbledry faced significant challenges in sourcing skilled manpower for their stores. They knew it very well that apart from advanced machinery, Standard operating procedures and skilled manpower trained on these SOPs are key to delivery standard quality across the country. However they also observed that there are plethora of training academies for businesses like hospitality, saloons, schools, hospitals etc but there none such academy or training centre for the laundry and dry clean industry through which this industry can source the skilled manpower. This lack of availability originated the idea of taking the lead and establishing an inhouse academy where trainees can learn washing techniques, ironing, stain removal, packaging, and much more.Like every other business, Laundry and Dry Clean also runs on repeat customers. Even if you have the best marketing team in the world, you cannot become successful if you don’t get repeat orders. No business has ever been successful just by acquiring new customers. And Quality of service is the only hack to get repeat orders from existing customers. Skilled Manpower and Standard SOPs are the key to standard quality apart from having state of the art machines.” Said Shashank Sharma, Head of Learning & Development at Tumbledry.Apart from catering the purpose to provide skilled manpower to its stores, this Tumbledry’s training academy is also the company’s attempt to reduce unemployment by providing jobs to under privileged uneducated youths who lack access to skill development. We believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. This academy is our way of bringing opportunity to the youth who need it the most,” said Gaurav Nigam, highlighting the inclusive nature of the initiative.Tumbledry aims to train and provide employment to 10000+ youths as washerman, pickup & delivery executives and store manager at its 2000+ stores by 2027. To handle such a huge number of stores is not a cake walk that’s why to maintain the same quality standard in every store, Tumbledry’s academy is contributing a lot by providing trained and skilled manpower which ensures smooth processing of garments. This great initiative taken by Tumbledry is beyond corporate and social responsibility. From top-notch services to meaningful social initiatives, the company has consistently shown that it values both quality and people.
